A la base les portes de l'Enterprise étaient blanches. Pour signaler à ses subordonnés qu'il ne fallait pas le déranger, le capitaine Kirk a pris l'habitude de faire une marque rouge sur sa porte, à chaque nouvelle conquête...
Au bout de quelques mois dans l'espace sa porte devint complétement rouge, et pour préserver la réputation du capitaine afin de cacher ses mauvaises manies, il a été décidé que toutes les portes seraient peintes en rouges...
